Angelika Ray was first identified September 1, 2008 at Manta Village by James Wing and she was about 4 feet across.
She is a courageous manta ray as she was flipping belly to belly with snorkelers within two weeks of first being sited. It takes most mantas a lot longer, but she learned quickly that lights = food. To this day we have not seen a manta ray warm up to the bubbles/light situation as quickly as she did.
Angelika Ray gave many people a great encounter during the manta experience. Although she has not been seen in a few years now, we are hopeful that she will return one day soon.
Her namesake is Martina Wing’s sister Angelika.
