Melainah Ray was identified by James Wing on September 1, 2008 at Manta Village. She was approximately 7-8 feet across.
Melainah Ray was a young manta when she started to feed at the lights. She, like most new mantas we have encountered, was wary of the bubbles, sounds, and movements from the divers and snorkelers.
As of late 2009, she has been a great performer and frequently visited both dive sites. She has been seen often at Manta Heaven and Manta Village within a 24-48 hour window.
