Hans Ray

Hans Ray was first identified at Manta Village (Keauhou) on July 10th, 2005 by James Wing. He was approximately 4 feet across. Today his wingspan is 6-8 feet.

Hans Ray used to be very shy and stayed on the outskirts of the light circle, but today he makes regular appearances at Manta Village and Manta Heaven. Sometimes he switches dive sites within 48 hours. Hans is not afraid of bubbles anymore and feels comfortable with close-ups with divers and snorkelers.

With Hans Ray we want to honor Hans Hug, Martina Wing’s brother-in-law, who at age 45, succumbed to cancer.
