Pu'uwai has 3x long brush strokes and 1x spot on the top right-hand side.

How was Pu’uwai Ray Named?

The name was suggested by Alex Alexander’s daughters Maya and Anja, who were with Martina when Pu’uwai was seen for the first time. Choosing this name was based on a fun contest with our social media followers where we received over 50 submissions.

Pu’uwai means “Heart” in Hawaiian. Martina decided to choose this name because the mantas often have a profound impact on the people that join the manta experience.

Being in their presence simply touches people’s hearts. She also appreciated the heartfelt submissions from everyone who suggested a name.
