Capt. Kirk aka Kirk

Capt. Kirk was identified on August 29, 2005 at Manta Village by Ryan Leinbach. He was a pup at that time with 4 feet wingspan, but grew to 6-8 feet.

He was most often seen at Manta Heaven and had no problems with “close encounters” with snorkelers and divers. We are proud to say that he has been featured in Discovery Channel’s Planet Earth series.

Captain Kirk is named after Captain Kirk Herring.

DESCRIPTION OF MARKINGS
Capt. Kirk has a big solid black marking for his main spot pattern and two long black strokes in the middle.

DESCRIPTION OF ABNORMALITIES/SCARRING

Captain Kirk is missing his tail.
