W is a large female about 14′ across and belongs to the incredible group of manta rays that were identified by Steve Myklebust in 1979, just like Lefty !
The last time she was spotted was in 2012. The most exciting part of that sighting was her pregnancy as this gives us a glimpse into the reproduction of manta rays and how long they carry pups.
DESCRIPTION OF MARKINGS
W is easily recognized by the large W mark between her gills.
